MESA XP – a smart choice as we approach summer

10 November, 2025

As we head into the warmer months, keeping your turf healthy is important. That’s why MESA XP is such a smart choice for turf managers looking for reliable, slow-release nutrition.

MESA XP is designed to feed your turf steadily over the next several weeks, so you don’t have to worry about sudden growth spurts or nutrient drop-offs. Its unique blend of nitrogen sources means your turf receives an immediate boost, followed by ongoing support that lasts right through the season.

Multi-phase nitrogen release

At the heart of MESA XP is a sophisticated approach to nitrogen release. The product combines ammonium sulphate, urea, and methylene urea within each granule, allowing for a multi-phase release of nitrogen.

This means that turf managers can expect an immediate green-up as ammonium becomes available to the plant right after application.

As time progresses, urea provides mid-term support for ongoing growth, while methylene urea ensures that the turf receives a slow and steady supply of nitrogen for up to fourteen weeks.

This extended feeding period not only reduces the risk of nutrient loss through volatilisation and leaching but also supports consistent turf performance.

MESA XP granule

Unique homogeneous granule technology

The homogeneous granule technology employed in MESA XP ensures that every granule contains a precise blend of nitrogen and potassium. This uniformity is critical for consistent nutrient distribution across the turf surface, leading to predictable plant uptake and reliable results.

Potassium sulphate is incorporated directly into the granule, which means potassium is released in sync with nitrogen, providing optimal availability in the root zone and further reducing the risk of leaching, especially in sand-based profiles such as stadiums, fairways, tees or other sand-profiles.

MESA XP’s nutrient ratio is designed to align with the Minimum Levels for Sustainable Nutrition (MLSN) guidelines. By providing a balanced N-P-K ratio of 20-0-10, the product helps turf managers avoid both excess and deficiency, supporting sustainable turf management practices.

The inclusion of iron and zinc in the formulation adds an extra layer of benefit, enhancing turf colour.

The blue dots represent ammonium sulphate granules, and the purple triangles represent the potassium sulphate trapped in the polymer mesh of Methylene Urea which slowly degrades down over time by soil microbes.

One of the standout features of MESA XP is its ability to increase nitrogen storage in the turfgrass crown. This promotes controlled growth and improves the plant’s tolerance to abiotic stresses such as heat, drought, and wear. Turf treated with MESA XP recovers more quickly from mechanical damage and shows reduced incidence of disease, making it an ideal choice for high-traffic areas and sports surfaces that demand peak performance.

Recommended application rates

The deep purple colour of the granules makes them easy to see during application, helping to achieve even coverage and minimise the risk of missed areas.

Application of MESA XP is recommended for use on tees, fairways, and high-performance sports turf at a rate of 200 to 300 kilograms per hectare, or 2 to 3 kilograms per 100 square meters.

MESA XP is designed for professionals who require precision and reliability in their turf nutrition programs. Its advanced formulation delivers consistent results and will give you a sustained release over the summer months.
